Monday: Peponi outage, power costs hold near Sh4.10 and Ebola tests stay negative
Plan for an eight-hour Peponi-area outage today. Current electricity pass-through charges total about Sh4.10 per unit, slightly below the prior set; Kenya has found no additional Ebola cases after 293 tests; KRA is Sh58.2 billion short of its first-quarter target; and Stellantis is betting on a €15,000-class EV.

Peponi, General Mathenge and Spring Valley face an eight-hour outage
Kenya Power plans to switch off listed parts of Nairobi North from 9am to 5pm today.
A public notice issued on Sunday, October 11, covers Peponi Road, General Mathenge, Donyo Sabuk, Spring Valley Road and adjacent customers on Monday, October 12. Charge phones and laptops early, save cloud work offline and check backup internet before 9am. The notice is area-based, so nearby buildings may not all lose supply.
October's power pass-through charge is Sh4.10 per unit, not a Sh4.10 monthly jump
Current variable charges total about Sh4.10 per unit versus Sh4.16 in the prior set, so reports of a fresh Sh4.10 hike are misleading.
EPRA notices published on October 9 set the fuel charge at Sh3.22 per kWh, the foreign-exchange adjustment at about Sh0.87 and the water levy at Sh0.0134. Together they total roughly Sh4.10 per unit, compared with about Sh4.16 in the previous monthly set. Fuel became dearer, but the forex component fell enough to produce a small net decline. These pass-through costs still sit on top of the base tariff and taxes: 100 units attracts roughly Sh410 from the three components alone. The notices use different meter-reading periods, so check the itemised bill rather than treating the figure as one new levy.
Kenya reports no new Ebola case after 293 tests
Only the imported case has tested positive; 108 quarantined contacts had no symptoms as of Sunday.
The Health Ministry said on October 11 that 293 samples linked to 289 alerts had been tested since the patient died on October 5, with no additional positives. Of 122 listed contacts, 108 were in quarantine and had not developed symptoms. The results show no detected onward transmission so far, but they are not an all-clear: contact monitoring and surveillance continue.
KRA misses its first-quarter revenue target by Sh58.2 billion
Collections grew 14.4%, but every major tax head except import duty still missed target.
Treasury data published on October 11 put ordinary revenue at Sh655.8 billion for July through September, up from Sh573.5 billion a year earlier. Income tax was Sh25.4 billion below target and excise duty was Sh16.3 billion short, while total spending exceeded plan by Sh116.9 billion. This does not create a new tax today, but it increases pressure for tighter enforcement, spending restraint or more borrowing later in the year.

Stellantis backs a €15,000-class EV for Europe's small-car market
A revived Citroën 2CV concept previews a low-cost electric car expected in 2028.
At an October 11 event before the Paris Motor Show, Stellantis presented six concepts and said its 2CV-inspired car previews Europe's new low-cost 'e-car' category, with a price around €15,000. It is not a production launch yet, and Kenyan availability is unconfirmed. The longer-term signal is that European carmakers are designing cheaper EVs to counter Chinese brands, which could eventually improve new and used import supply for Kenya.
