529,635 public servants given until August 14 to update pension records
Government orders all PSSF members to update records or risk delays in retirement benefits.
All public servants covered by the Public Service Superannuation Fund have until August 14 to update their personal information and beneficiary details through the new PSSF Member Self-Service Portal or mobile app. The directive covers 529,635 members including 332,950 TSC teachers, 120,084 disciplined services officers, 60,322 MDCA employees, and 16,279 county staff. The new Pension Administration System lets members check statements, monitor contributions, project benefits, and initiate claims remotely. Failure to update records will delay retirement benefit processing.

China launches WAICO AI alliance with 29 nations, Xi delivers first WAIC keynote
China formalized a 29-nation AI governance bloc in Shanghai, with no G7 countries signing on.
President Xi Jinping delivered his first in-person World AI Conference keynote in Shanghai, launching the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization with 29 founding members including Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa, Russia, and Pakistan. No G7 country joined. Xi framed the alliance as a counterweight to US-dominated AI governance, calling for open-source AI and equitable access for developing nations. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres attended the launch. WAICO is headquartered in Shanghai and analysts expect Beijing to use it to shape AI policy discussions at the UN. Huawei also debuted the Atlas 950 supercomputer at the event.
GPT-5.6 closes a 30-year gap in convex optimization with a single prompt
OpenAI's latest model solved a problem that had stumped mathematicians for three decades.
A Reddit post on r/math claims GPT-5.6 used a specially crafted prompt to resolve a longstanding open problem in convex optimization, a field that has seen little progress in 30 years. The post cites the model's ability to reason through the proof structure and generate a novel approach. The claim follows OpenAI's earlier announcement that GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra proved the Cycle Double Cover Conjecture, a 50-year-old graph theory problem, by running 64 parallel subagents. If verified, these results suggest AI is moving from code generation into original mathematical research.
